Historic DeBardeleben Park in downtown Bessemer is the site for the Third Annual Marvel City Family Fun Fest scheduled for Sunday, October 22 from 3-7 p.m.

This family-friendly, free event is sponsored by the Bessemer Area Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber President LaTasha Williams is coordinating the event with assistance from Mary Milan.

The purpose of this Fall event is for families to enjoy an exciting and fun-filled Sunday afternoon with entertainment, shopping, networking and delicious food in a safe environment. Families are encouraged to attend the event following church.

This year the Chamber has combined the Pink and Purple Parade with the annual event. The parade is in honor of Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Awareness and it will start the festivities.

The parade will start at 2:30 p.m. on First Avenue and 19th Street, North and end at DeBardeleben Park at 3 p.m. Then the Family Fun Fest will begin.

Title sponsors are Arabella Birmingham, city of Bessemer, State Senator Merika Coleman, Jefferson County Commissioner Shelia Tyson, Jefferson County Sheriff Mark Pettway and Medical West.

There will be 13 Zones: Entertainment, Kids, Marvel City Marketplace, Domestic Violence/Breast Cancer, Wellness, Food trucks, Restaurant Avenue, Safety, Car Show and Information and Personality.
