We all know it has been extremely cold.  There still remains a need for coats, hats, scarves and gloves, especially for children and teenagers.

The Hueytown High School Peer Helpers are sponsoring a Winter Coat Drive.  The theme for the event is “Spread the Warmth.”

Amanda Bryant is the school sponsor of the event which started on January 16 and ends on February 16.

The Peer Helpers are students from the 9th to 12th grade.  Their goal is to identify the needs of the Hueytown High School student body and address them to the best of their ability.

The organization is accepting gently used or new coats at any of the drop off locations:  The Hueytown Library, the Hueytown Chamber of Commerce or sending the items with a Hueytown High School student to the school.

The 2023-2024 Peer Helpers are Alexis Barton, Colton Blackstock, Kennedy Brackett, Kaitlyn Bryant, Zoe Brown, Destiny Clark, Chelsey Coronado-Rubio, Vanessa Duran, Jeremiah Evans, Lauren Finley, Liyah Fox, Sergio Gaytan, Arrayah Holmes, Kailah Jones, Preston Jones, John Lang, Olivia Lawrence, Emma Melanson, Terron Peterson, Amya Pouncy, Aylin Quinteros-Marin, Lizbeth Trejo-Arredondo and Destiny Zimmerman.

The students apply for this position in the spring of the year and go through an application and interview process before being chosen to represent the school.
