Greater Fourteenth Street Baptist Church in Bessemer is indeed an asset to the city of Bessemer. Each month they bless the community.

Their most recent act of love and kindness was last Wednesday, November 22 at the church located at 418 14th Street, South.

Their Food Outreach Ministry distributed 200 food boxes the day before Thanksgiving. To God be the glory.

Tobithean Alexander, coordinator of the ministry stated, “Our main objective is to minister to the Lord’s community by giving freely to the poor and needy.”

Pastor Jiles Burgines, III is the minister of the church.

Members of the church family participating in the project with Pastor Burgines included First Lady Lola Burgines, Sister Barbara Burton, Sister Betty and Deacon John Taylor, Deacon John Dedrick, Brother Desmon Eason, Deacon Dexter Cunningham, Deacon Earnest Cunningham, Brother Reggie Robinson, Brother Carl Smith, Sister Estelle Mack, Sister Shelia Rice and Deacon James Spraggins.

A sister church, Antioch Baptist Church along with the pastor, Rev. Waymon Fairbanks assisted with the distribution.
