  Willie Davis of Birmingham has been a kindergarten teacher at Charles F. Hard Elementary School in Bessemer for two years.  He has taught at Hard for eight years, also having taught first through third grades.   

     The beloved teacher was recently honored with the Excellence in Education—September Teacher of the Month Award on September 29 at the school.  Davis loves teaching and helping his students succeed. 

     The award is made possible by a commitment from Alabama Public Television (APT). APT is the nation’s first Public Television Network and is a nationally recognized leader in the field of public television. 

     Davis said, “I am very appreciative of Alabama Public Television for honoring me as Teacher of the Month.  I applaud APT for its efforts in recognizing teachers for the work we do in our classrooms, schools and communities.” 

     APT Executive Director, Wayne Reid and Vice-President Education Service, Dr. Briana Morton presented Davis with the award. 

     Davis is a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified teacher.
