For a long time, the city of Bessemer has encouraged the citizenry to “shop local.” The Bessemer Police Department (BPD) has embraced another grand idea.

Today, the Bessemer Police Department is “hiring local.”

The department is in need of additional police officers.  They need to hire 30 new police officers.

The BPD is committed to enhancing public safety and fortifying community ties and will expand its force in the coming months.  This will make for a safer future for Bessemer’s residents.

According to Bessemer Police Chief Michael Wood, “The addition of new officers to our team marks a significant stride forward for the Bessemer Police Department.  We are dedicated to providing the best possible service to our community and these new recruits will play a pivotal role in helping us achieve that objective.”

The BPD will focus on identifying candidates who not only possess the requisite skills and qualifications, but also demonstrate a genuine passion for serving the public and effecting change in people’s lives.

Once hired, the new officers will work with their colleagues in upholding the BPD’s mission of protecting and serving the citizens of Bessemer.  They will be strategically placed around the city to address emerging crime trends, respond to emergencies and engage in proactive community policing initiatives.
