There have been two vacancies this past year on the board of the Bessemer Industrial Development Board.

The executive director of the Bessemer Area Chamber of Commerce and a local businessman have been appointed to fill the vacancies on the Bessemer Industrial Development Board.

Recently, the Bessemer City Council appointed Latasha Cook-Williams and Charles King, respectively, to the Bessemer Industrial Development Board.

Williams’s term will expire on February 22, 2028, and King on February 22, 2026.

The Industrial Development Board law is now that five of the seven members must be qualified electors and residents of the city of Bessemer. The city can have two members that are not residents of the city as long as they reside within 25 miles of the jurisdiction of Bessemer.
