The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees elected J. Steven Roy to represent the Third Congressional District at its meeting today, November 3, 2023.
An accomplished professional and esteemed community leader, Roy brings over 40 years of business experience and financial expertise to the UA System Board of Trustees, including over two decades as chief financial officer of two Alabama-based companies, Movie Gallery, Inc. and AAA Cooper Transportation (ACT).
A lifelong Alabama resident, Roy has also chaired and served on various community and professional boards and is a 1983 graduate of The University of Alabama. He has served as a member of the UA President’s Cabinet, member of the Culverhouse College of Business Board of Visitors and president of his local Alumni Association.
The UA System Board of Trustees ensure effective leadership, management and control over the activities of the UA System’s three doctoral research institutions and world-class health system. Roy succeeds the late Trustee James “Jim” Wilson III. His election will be submitted to the Alabama State Senate for confirmation.
