By Robert Burgins, Jr.

A joyous spirited young man that exemplified the love one should have for God, Franklin Walker, affectionately known as Bubba was celebrated this past Saturday.

Entrusted services were conducted by Integrity Funeral Home and officiated by Rev. William E. Scott of Macedonia Missionary Baptist(1401 26th St. North-Besssmer, AL. 35020), as citizens paid sentimental respects to one of their own who certainly was loved by his family and church members. Reverend Scott reminded the congregation that we all have our own crosses to bear and are not exempt from trials and tribulations throughout our earthly existence.

One who loved the city of Bessemer and touched many of it’s residents, Bubba was an avid church visitor and accomplished musician(particularly the drums and piano) as anyone who knows anyone will tell you about the young man who was always a welcoming person when it came to greeting, whether with a hug or enthusiastic handshake, Mr. Walker was one who didn’t go unnoticed.

For others he’d certainly share words of encouragement and sincere passion for those seen as mentors and teachers of his, as he was fondly nicknamed ‘Mayor of Bessemer’, he was a 2004 graduate of Jess Lanier High School and a helping handy-man for anyone in need.

Lost to us by accident, but never lost on our thoughts and hearts, we remember Mr. Franklin ‘Bubba Jr.’ Walker.

We send condolences to the Walker and Griffin and Macedonia church families.
